What is the difference between an IFSP and an IEP?

Karen/slp 		IFSP = Individualized Family Service Plan. This is a plan that is written for children between the ages of birth to 3 years old that have been identified as having a developmental delay. This plan is used as a legal and binding document that lists what services the early interventionist will be providing to the family. Who is going to do what, for how long and what will be better because of the service.

IEP = Individualized Education Plan. This plan is written for children when they receive services at a school. Usually between the ages of 3 to 21. This plan is used as a legal and binding document that lists what services the education system will be providing to the child. Who is going to do what, for how long, and how the child will improve academically because of this service.
